LI: :Learning about New Zealand history.
For Reading we looked at New Zealand history from the school starter kit. We chose 1 out of 36 and needed to translate the tangata whenua which tells the mountain, river, tribe and marae. My partner and I chose Observation, this is about Abel Tasman and Dumont D’Urville. Abel Tasman’s story is about how he named Murderers Bay and what happened there. Dumont D’Urville’s story is about how he named an island and a bird after his wife Adele.
I enjoyed this task because I learnt about how the country I live in got its name and I learnt what happened in Abel Tasman’s National Park/Observation Park.
